Frisian spa lodge
The lodge runs like an informal family estate. Days are spent wandering between coastal pine woods and warm thermal pools.
What it’s good at
What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
It offers comfortable guestrooms that are fresh, modern and decorated in Friesian blue, a pretty garden, and an impressive 1 000m2 spa.
Somewhere quiet
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
Coastal pine woods border the grounds, and walking trails lead through the dunes between the Bad and Dorf districts.
The rooms
Quiet interiors take their cues from regional maritime tones, opening through wide windows onto the garden lawns.
The pools
Bring a swimsuit.
Heated pools sit indoors and out in the garden, edged by brick sun decks and tall pine trees.
The spa
The spa has Finnish and herbal saunas, and therapists use PINO products for body wraps and massages.
At the table
Hedwigs Restaurant serves regional North Sea fish by the garden terrace, and Carls pours evening cocktails by the fireplace.
How it began

Werner Lüders opened the hotel in 1986. Following a 2010 fire, his daughter Claudia rebuilt it, choosing the Frisian name for parents' house.
