Privacy Policy
What Hotel Please collects, why we collect it, and what we never do with it.
Version 1.2 · August 23, 2026.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
Most of Hotel Please can be browsed without an account. When you create one with Sign in with Apple, we receive your email address and, if you share it, your name. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address, which works just as well.
Your Saved Content
We store the hotels you mark as stayed, the wishlists you create, the searches you save, your hotel preferences, your profile photo if you add one, and any notes or feedback you send us.
Device Information
Each install generates a random identifier that we send with requests, along with your platform, app version, and build number. Reading Hotel Please on this website does the same: your browser keeps a random identifier in its local storage, not a cookie, so the pages you read count as one visit rather than several strangers. If you turn on notifications, we store the push token Apple issues for your device. We do not collect Apple’s advertising identifier.
What You Do In The App And On The Site
We record what happens in the product itself: pages and hotel profiles opened, links followed out to the app, wishlists created, and the like, each tied to the random identifier above and to your account if you have one. It tells us which parts of Hotel Please earn their place. We do not record what you type, and none of it follows you anywhere else.
Error Reports
We use Sentry to collect error and crash reports. These help us find and fix bugs, and can include your device model, OS version, and the state of the app when it failed.
2. What Stays On Your Device
If you allow location access, the app reads your approximate position, accurate to about a kilometre rather than precisely, and matches it against a list of cities entirely on your device so it can open on the one nearest you. Your coordinates are never sent to our servers and are never stored. Declining location access simply means choosing a city yourself.
Your photo library is only read when you pick a profile photo, and only the photo you choose is uploaded.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the app and its features
- Organize the hotels you save and mark as stayed
- Send you notifications about wishlist activity
- Fix bugs and technical issues
- Understand which parts of Hotel Please people use, so we know what to build next
- Respond to your inquiries and support requests
4. Information Sharing
Service Providers
We share information only with the services needed to run the app, and only for that purpose: Apple, for Sign in with Apple and push notification delivery; Sentry, for error and crash reporting; Amplitude, for the usage counts described above; Pusher, for real-time wishlist activity; and our hosting and content delivery providers. Each processes data on our instructions.
No Advertising or Tracking
The app and this website contain no advertising SDKs, and no third-party code of any kind runs in them: what you do is sent to our own servers, which pass the counts on to Amplitude. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not build advertising profiles.
We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
Legal Requests
We may disclose information where the law requires it.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and saved hotel data for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account removes that data from our live systems straight away, and it ages out of our backups on their normal rotation, except where we are required to retain something for legal purposes. Error reports are retained for 90 days.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Export your saved hotel data
- Opt out of push notifications
Both live under Settings in the app. Reset my account clears every wishlist, stamp, vote, and preference while keeping the account itself; Delete my account ends the account and removes your data. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, or the CCPA, including the right to object to processing or to complain to your local data protection authority.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children’s Privacy
The app is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.
9. International Users
Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers are located. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Contact Us
