What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
The rooms and suites are simple and elegant, with a touch of Art Deco and a faint Moorish influence — which is brought to the fore in the top-of-the-line Arabic Suite — and the bathrooms are as extravagant as you’d expect from a monument to marble.
Somewhere quiet
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
The Ducal Palace and medieval castle are a short walk away, in a town where even the public benches are carved from marble.
The rooms
Bathrooms are lined floor to ceiling in veined pink marble, and first-floor rooms open onto terraces over the courtyard pool.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
The courtyard pool connects directly inside and stays heated year-round, bordered by palm trees and white loungers.
The spa and gym
Four treatment rooms host marble stone massages with Cinq Mondes, and a mirrored gym holds exercise machines.
At the table
Narcissus Fernandesii serves Alentejo dishes around a table cut from a single marble block, and the bar pours local wines.
How it began

Designer Miguel Câncio Martins spent four years converting the former olive mill, sourcing stone directly from the owners' quarries.
