ANEMIWhitewashed Cycladic settlement
Built like a traditional island hamlet, twelve whitewashed pavilions step down the hillside for quiet days above the port.
“Minimalist comfort and peaceful nights are the order of the day at this small, friendly spot, which also has the requisite pool—and poolside bar.”
What it’s good at
Notable
Twelve whitewashed cube pavilions stepped amphitheatrically down the hillside toward Karavostasis bay.
What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Also in AFAR.
ANEMI’s forty-four rooms, while extremely comfortable, are a studied (and decidedly modern) arrangement in spare luxury.
Somewhere quiet
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
Karavostasis port and its pebble beach sit downhill, and the medieval clifftop village of Chora is a short drive away.
The rooms
Rooms feature spare white interiors with kitchenettes, while select suites add private plunge pools overlooking the water.
Pool, gym and hammam
Bring a swimsuit.
Pergolas shade loungers beside the freshwater pool. Indoors, a mirrored cardio gym sits near a glass-fronted hammam.
The spa
The island's first dedicated spa has two treatment rooms for aromatherapy and bodywork, beside a tiled relaxation lounge.
At the table
The bar pours cocktails and estate-grown wine beneath a wooden pergola and in the airy indoor lounge.
How it began

Strict island building regulations guided the 2007 design, prompting architect Alexandros Samaras to mirror centuries-old Cycladic houses.
