Minimalist village schoolhouse
Minimalist village schoolhouse
The former girls' school operates as a communal house for visiting teams, centered on giant chalkboards, shared tables, and whitewashed sandstone.
What it’s good at
Listed
Vernacular village architecture in Sant Lluís, built using traditional Menorcan marés stone.
Somewhere quiet
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
The front doors open onto quiet village streets in Sant Lluís, a short drive from Menorca's southern coves.
The rooms
Linen curtains enclose modular pine sleeping cubes fitted with wool futons. Slender ladders lead up to flat platforms on their roofs.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
A micro-cement dipping pool sits in the gravel patio garden, bordered by whitewashed walls and built-in bench seating.
At the table
A long lacquered wood table sits beside the open kitchen, designed for shared meals beneath high timber trusses.
How it began

Built in 1900 as Sant Lluís's first girls' school, the structure stood abandoned until architect Emma Martí restored it in 2020.
