The 1908 Union Pacific depot runs as an energetic downtown living room, turning historic passenger concourses into all-day bars and restaurants.

What they say

Also in Condé Nast Traveler and AFAR.
Housed inside what was formerly Salt Lake City’s train depot, the hotel is continuing the building’s legacy as a hub for travelers, but this time is encouraging them to stay a while before rushing off to catch the next train.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
The Delta Center arena sits directly across the street, and TRAX light rail stops out front for quick airport trips.
The rooms
Thirteen historic suites preserve the depot's exposed brick and deep soaking tubs. In the adjoining tower, rooms look toward the Wasatch Mountains.
The gym
Weight machines, workout benches, and a rack of dumbbells stand against exposed brick inside the fitness center.
The Bar at Asher Adams
Four station clocks hang above a dark marble counter lined with green barstools under the Grand Hall's vaulted ceiling.
The facade is a stunning architectural handshake: the restored 1908 Union Pacific Depot—all French Second Empire brick and limestone—stands in contrast to a sleek, curvilinear modern tower.
At the table
Rouser cooks over charcoal beside an open kitchen. Upstairs, cocktail bar No. 119 overlooks the Grand Hall from the mezzanine.
How it began

The hotel takes its name from John R. Asher and George H. Adams, 19th-century cartographers who mapped western railroad lines.
