What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
On the shores of Lake Schluchsee, surrounded by the Black Forest, Hotel Auerhahn has been shaped by three generations of the Tröndle family.
Somewhere quiet
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
Lake Schluchsee lies just outside, and walking trails branch straight into the Black Forest pines.
The rooms
Bedrooms stay simple with pale timber, ribbed wool carpets, and apothecary bath products from Saint Charles.
The pool and saunas
Bring a swimsuit.
A domed indoor pool comes with a counter-current system, steps from a tiered Finnish sauna heated to 90°C.
The spa
Timber-clad treatment suites host full-body massages, with curtained daybed alcoves set aside for quiet resting afterward.
The gym and studio
Wood-crafted Nohrd machines equip the gym, and a mirrored studio hosts daily yoga and Pilates.
Restaurant Auerhahn
Chef Yann Bosshammer serves seasonal Black Forest dinners in a dining room lined with historic pine paneling.
Bar im Wintergarten
The glass conservatory lounge serves afternoon coffee and cake, then mixes signature cocktails over a timber-clad bar.
How it began

Architect Meinrad Tröndle bought the fire-gutted property in 1993, reclaiming his ancestors' 1774 farmstead after more than a century.
