What it’s good at
What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
A distinctive, modern hotel not far from the centre of town providing mostly modern rooms with elegant furnishings.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Grindelwald station and village shops sit five minutes away on foot, directly beneath the North Face of the Eiger.
The rooms
Every room opens onto a private balcony overlooking the mountains. Triple-glazed windows and natural wood floors keep interiors calm.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
The 14-metre indoor pool is heated to 29 degrees Celsius, set beneath a backlit mountain relief beside a whirlpool.
The saunas
The Finnish sauna is built from reclaimed wood, and a rustic stone heat mine gallery warms to 50 degrees Celsius.
The spa
Massages take place in dedicated treatment rooms, set behind rustic wood panelling and stone walls.
At the table
Vintage ski gondolas seat diners out on the terrace. The bar inside serves cocktails across a curved leather counter.
How it began

The Swiss Army requisitioned the building as a military hospital during both World Wars, before the family restored and reopened it.
