Pine-cloaked marina resort
This mid-century coastal property overlooks Punta Ala marina, where days drift between pine-shaded gardens and views across to Elba.
“Cala del Porto doesn’t have to work hard to sell itself—located on the seaside in Tuscany, the waterfront-meets-wine-country views will awe just about any guest.”

The mid-century architecture gives little indication of what’s within, but the Cala del Porto is a Baglioni hotel, and the group’s trademark elegant stylishness is very much on display in the interiors.

The rooms
Selected rooms open directly onto the gardens and pool deck. Others look across open water toward the island of Elba.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
Tall maritime pines shelter the curved freshwater pool, set above the marina beside stone-paved sun decks.
The spa
Illuminated circular benches and footbaths fill the spa, where treatments draw on trace minerals from ruby and malachite.
Belvedere Restaurant
Chef Gianluca Braglia prepares regional Mediterranean dishes on the sunset terrace, sheltered under canopies of magenta bougainvillea.
How it began

Film producer Carlo Ponti helped develop the property in 1974, and Sophia Loren was its public face for years.
