What they say

Once the workers’ cottages on a 19th-century agricultural estate, Casas da Quinta de Cima has been reimagined by the same family five generations on.
“the atmosphere is resolutely agricultural. Citrus orchards stretch across the property, and breakfast is truly farm-to-table: organic eggs cooked to order, freshly squeezed orange juice, citrus cakes, local farm cheeses, and avocados picked from the trees outside.”
Tucked away
A place apart: the property is the destination.
Ria Formosa's tidal marshes border the property, and Cacela Velha's whitewashed village and beach are a short walk away.
The rooms
Suites occupy former farmworkers' cottages, with wicker ceilings over wood-burning stoves and outdoor showers in walled patios.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
The swimming pool was converted from a whitewashed agricultural irrigation tank, bordered by sun loungers and citrus orchards.
Massage
Massage treatments and restorative bodywork take place in dedicated wellness spaces tucked among the quiet farm grounds.
At the table
Tables fill a converted agricultural warehouse and an arched veranda, serving regional seafood and Portuguese wines.
How it began

Frederico Ramirez bought the estate in 1925. A century later, his descendants converted the farmworkers' cottages to sustain the working farm.
