What it’s good at
What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Franz Kafka's spirit can be felt throughout this appealing business hotel, which was formerly the Workmen’s Accident Insurance Institute HQ – Kafka's place of work from 1908 to 1922.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Republic Square is steps away along Na Poříčí, and the historic Powder Tower is a short walk down the street.
The rooms
Bedrooms are compact and contemporary, with shower-only bathrooms and geometric accents drawn from Czech Cubism.
The gym
Cardio machines and free weights fill the basement fitness room, set beneath arched ceilings of whitewashed brick.
Kafka Restaurant
The restaurant serves Czech specialties and international dishes between a Neo-Baroque salon and a glass-canopied courtyard veranda.
Kafka Bar
The bar serves cocktails like the Flying Bicycle across an illuminated fluted counter on the ground floor.
At the table
A central induction cooking island and juice station set out the morning buffet, opening directly into the dining room.
How it began

Bohemia's Workers' Accident Insurance Institute opened here in 1895, and Kafka's original office is now preserved as a hotel suite.
