What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Das Hochgrat has mastered the contemporary alpine chalet idiom on the main drag in Oberstaufen, Germany, not far from the Swiss border.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Oberstaufen's train station and the Aquaria thermal baths are both a five-minute walk from the front doors.
The rooms
Chalet apartments have private balconies and stone hearths. Select chalets add their own Finnish saunas and steam showers.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
A biologically filtered nature pool sits in the garden courtyard, bordered by timber decking and sun loungers.
The spa
Two communal saunas sit beside a relaxation lounge fitted with built-in pine daybeds and ambient lighting.
Dogs stay too.
Restaurant
DIE.SPEISEKAMMER
The restaurant serves creative Allgäu cooking beside wine shelves, and tables spill onto the terrace for breakfast.
How it began

Architect Felix Schädler designed the buildings in 2015, and each chalet takes its name from a local meadow plot.
