Faena is an entirely more serious-looking place… a heavy and dignified imperial style, at once more grand and more passionate than most of Starck’s earlier, lighter hotel spaces.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Converted red-brick docklands along the waterfront place you moments from Puerto Madero's dining promenade and a short walk to historic San Telmo.
The rooms
Lapacho wood floors and white leather furnishings meet crimson velvet drapery, with freestanding clawfoot tubs tucked behind glass bathroom walls.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
Red loungers fringe the heated outdoor pool, where a submerged gold crown fountain rises from the water.
The spa and gym
A candlelit Turkish hammam anchors the spa alongside private treatment rooms and a glass-walled fitness center.

Chefs cook traditional Argentine cuts over an adobe wood-fired oven, with seating indoors and across the brick courtyard.
From outside, the red brick building that Faena occupies does nothing to hint at the over-the-top decor of what lies inside.

Evenings bring live cabaret performances, library cocktails under crystal chandeliers, and private tastings in the subterranean cellar.
How it began
Fashion designer Alan Faena saved the 1902 El Porteño grain warehouse, constructed with imported Manchester bricks, from demolition in 1998.
