What it’s good at
Remarkable
Board-formed concrete suites set on desert plinths with open-air stargazing terraces.
Listed
In-suite grazing provisions and private plinth plunge pools across off-grid desert acreage.
What they say
Also in Wallpaper*.
The property boasts three standalone structures, labelled suites, that embody the four elements of nature and seem to appear and disappear into the landscape.
Tucked away
A place apart: the property is the destination.
The desert grounds sit near the Oasis of Mara, between Joshua Tree National Park and the Mojave National Preserve.
The rooms
Suites open onto private plunge pools below, and rooftop terraces have heated daybeds for sleeping under the stars.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
A heated swimming pool sits on the central pavilion plinth, shaded by canopies and looking toward the desert hills.
The spa
Visiting therapists deliver bodywork in the suites. The pavilion spa adds a steam room, sauna, and outdoor soaking tubs.
At the table
Tables set between concrete walls look out toward the open horizon, served with morning grazing boxes and evening campfire dinners.
How it began

Architect Malek Alqadi drew on the ancient monuments of Petra, near his birthplace, to shape the concrete structures.

The city grew up with it. Same rituals, same regulars, same bar.

A world of its own. Something to do from breakfast to nightcap.
The scene
Lively
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Central
