Hotel Bardo Savannah
Savannah, Georgia
South Historic District
Vibe
Ground-floor life centers on an oval cocktail bar and a lively courtyard pool flanked by baby-pink parasols.
“Parkside Victorian clubhouse”
Victorian Romanesque architecture meets peach palettes, rattan furnishings, and botanical stencils hand-painted by local Savannah artists.
Lively gatherings unfold between the Green Room cocktail salon, poolside Bar Bibi, and evening jazz at Club Bardo.
Attentive Southern hospitality meets custom Corpus bath amenities, Dyson hair dryers, and crisp Frette bed linens.
Across from Forsyth Park in Savannah's South Historic District, a short walk from the historic squares.
“behind the walls of this treasured 19th-century Victorian mansion is a hotel that’s caught between two worlds: the tranquil seclusion of a resort and the convivial bustle of a private members’ club.”
Rooms
Interiors blend dusty peach tones and rattan wardrobes with art-deco curves, while select suites add deep soaking tubs and private terraces.
“this red-brick mansion turned urban resort has big-city amenities with quintessential Southern charm.”
Wellness
Below ground, Saltgrass Spa pairs a dry sauna with holistic bodywork, while the fitness studio runs daily yoga and pilates classes.
“The hotel’s design aesthetic is a study in contrasts, which Left Lane’s chief brand officer, Jess Berkin, and her team liken to a ‘riot clash’.”
Backstory
Built in 1888 as a Victorian Romanesque estate, the redbrick mansion served as a family home and funeral parlor before its resort revival.
Eat & drink
Saint Bibiana serves coastal Italian pastas in the mansion, while Bar Bibi pours poolside spritzes alongside brick-oven pizzettas.
The neighborhood
Set across from Forsyth Park, the property puts you within an easy walk of live oaks, Spanish moss, and historic brick squares.
The app
This is one hotel. The app has every one we rate, in your pocket, for the whole trip.
Our shorthand
What makes a hotel special, how well they pull it off, and what it feels like outside the door.
How well they pull it off
Extremely rare. Sets the global standard.
Brilliant execution. And we’re picky.
They did this well. You’ll notice.
A defining trait. Makes the hotel what it is.
The eight vibes
Architecture and interiors lead. There’s a creative vision at work.
The guest is conspicuously well cared for. Requests met before they’re made.
Rooted in place. Local character runs through the whole stay.
Energy and scene. Where the city goes out, whether or not it’s sleeping here.
A building with history. The story of the place is part of the stay.
Built around feeling better. Rest, sweat, soak, spa.
A hotel the city grew up with. Same rituals, same regulars.
A world of its own. No reason to leave the property.
Scene — what’s outside the door
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
A place apart: the property is the destination.
