What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Also in Condé Nast Traveler.
Restored in 2009, it still wears its history well: sandstone façades, curved ceilings, and expanses of black and sable marble.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
The cobbled Rynek is five minutes away on foot, and pedestrianized Old Town streets fan out from the front door.
The rooms
Bedrooms have high ceilings and exposed brick, with tall windows looking out toward Gothic St. Dorothy's Church.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
The subterranean 15-meter pool is lined with dark marble and fitted with a counter-current swimming system.
The spa
Backlit amber blocks line the salt-iodine relaxation cave, and treatment rooms use marine formulas by Thalion.
Sauna and steam
A dry Finnish sauna and a mosaic-tiled Turkish steam bath sit behind glowing glass doors.
Restaurant
Ristorante Acquario
The sixth-floor dining room has an open kitchen and slanted glass walls that look out across the city skyline.
The renovated ornate Art Nouveau facade, immensely high ceilings of the public spaces … and the dark wood of the wide hallways and imposing door frames are reminders of the hotel’s bygone years.
At the table
Restauracja Monopol serves seasonal Polish cuisine among grand marble columns, and the bar pours from over 400 spirits.
How it began

The hotel rose in 1892 on land that previously held a church cemetery and a nineteenth-century prison.
