The house
Motel OneGabled brick merchant house
The hotel reimagines a historic merchant house as an unpretentious stopover, with an all-hours bar lined with wooden shipping crates.
What it’s good at
Listed
Gabled slurry-coated brick facade by Helmut Riemann facing the historic market square.
Listed
Hanseatic merchant motifs and Buddenbrooks literary references furnish the ground-floor lounge.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
The historic market square lies right outside, directly opposite the brick arcades of the Gothic town hall.
The rooms
Rooms are compact and straightforward, sticking to the essentials for a quiet night in the Old Town.
Dogs stay too.
The One Lounge & Bar
A tabletop gin bible details dozens of bottles, poured at the counter beneath warm Louis Poulsen pendant lamps.
How it began

The 2018 build replaced a postwar municipal site and parking lot, restoring three steep gables lost during wartime bombing in 1943.
