What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Lovely cheerful rooms differing greatly in size can be found at this personally-run hotel. Most rooms have a balcony, and those overlooking the garden are particularly pleasant.
Somewhere quiet
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
Walking trails lead straight from the property across the Zartenbach meadows and into the Black Forest woods.
The rooms
Balconies look out over the garden and meadows. Selected rooms add traditional Black Forest tiled stoves.
The pools
Bring a swimsuit.
A heated outdoor pool opens toward the Black Forest pines. Inside, a 33°C saltwater pool sits beneath starlight ceilings.
The spa
Daybeds in the glass-fronted relaxation room look onto the lawn, beside treatment rooms for massages and body rituals.
The saunas and gym
The sauna suite includes Swiss stone pine cabins and steam baths. Across the hall, cardio machines look toward the gardens.
Restaurant Thomahof
Regional Black Forest cooking and seasonal game are served across traditional wood-clad parlours and a sheltered garden terrace.
How it began

Chef and pastry chef Emil Thoma opened a modest nineteen-bed inn here in 1965, which his children run today.
