The 1939 harbor granary is now a relaxed lakeside hotel, running straight down to a private swimming jetty on the Ziegelsee.
What it’s good at
What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
A former corn storehouse, built in 1939. An eight storey brick building with a pointed roof.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
The front doors open directly onto the Ziegelsee promenade, and Schwerin Castle is a short lakeside stroll away.
The rooms
North wing rooms keep the silo's original concrete mushroom columns, finished with restored timber windows and warm tones.
The saunas
Slatted benches in the Finnish sauna face an illuminated mural of Schwerin Castle at sunset.
The spa
The top-floor private spa suite has a glass-fronted sauna and an air-jet soaking tub overlooking the lake.
The gym
The basement gym has free weights, a rowing machine, and cardio bikes set against exposed brick.
At the table
Restaurant aurum serves organic regional dishes beside floor-to-ceiling lake windows, and Bar Bobinga is built with original 1939 bricks.
How it began

Engineers carved out the massive concrete grain cells in 1995, slotting a new steel frame inside the historic brick shell.
