La Réserve Genève Hotel and Spa
Geneva, Switzerland
Bellevue
Vibe
Sprawling parkland borders Lake Geneva, where safari lodge interiors meet a private mahogany boat shuttling guests across the water.
“Lakeside safari retreat”
Spa Nescens spans an entire floor offering longevity therapies, thermal saunas and steam rooms, and two heated pools.
Ten parkland acres featuring outdoor tennis courts, children's treehouses, seasonal ice skating, and private mahogany boat shuttles.
Jacques Garcia created safari lodge interiors using rich velvets, oiled hardwood floors, glowing lanterns, and animal artwork.
In a private four-hectare park along Lake Geneva, five kilometers north of central Geneva.
“Interiors are handsome, with a touch of decadence, starting from the materials—leather desks, granite baths, floors and furnishings of oiled hardwood, and thick velvet bedspreads.”
Rooms
Muted earthy tones and subtle faux-animal prints ground the bedrooms, where wide glass doors open directly to private balconies and landscaped gardens.
“Interiors seize curiously but victoriously on an Old-World Africa theme, with gold, walnut, and berry shades; glowing lanterns; and dark polished floors…”
Wellness
Spa Nescens delivers targeted longevity treatments and thermal recovery alongside saunas, steam rooms, and heated indoor and outdoor pools.
“Inside, the Paris-based designer Jacques Garcia has taken his cues from the chichi side of African lodges: hues of royal reds and gold surface in rich leathers…”
Backstory
Conceived by Michel Reybier as his flagship retreat, the property reimagined Swiss lakeside hospitality through the lens of a luxury African safari.

The app
This is one hotel. The app has every one we rate, in your pocket, for the whole trip.
Our shorthand
What makes a hotel special, how well they pull it off, and what it feels like outside the door.
How well they pull it off
Extremely rare. Sets the global standard.
Brilliant execution. And we’re picky.
They did this well. You’ll notice.
A defining trait. Makes the hotel what it is.
The eight vibes
Architecture and interiors lead. There’s a creative vision at work.
The guest is conspicuously well cared for. Requests met before they’re made.
Rooted in place. Local character runs through the whole stay.
Energy and scene. Where the city goes out, whether or not it’s sleeping here.
A building with history. The story of the place is part of the stay.
Built around feeling better. Rest, sweat, soak, spa.
A hotel the city grew up with. Same rituals, same regulars.
A world of its own. No reason to leave the property.
Scene — what’s outside the door
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
A place apart: the property is the destination.
