What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
It’s hard to imagine a classic grand hotel that’s much more elegant than Lyon’s Hotel Le Royal, a floodlit Haussmanian classic with a Renaissance-style dome, a hotel that absolutely dominates its corner on the city’s central Place Bellecoeur.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Place Bellecour sits right outside, and the historic Saint-Jean quarter is a short walk across the Saône.
The rooms
Rooms are lined with red or blue silk print wallpaper, reflecting Lyon's historic textile industry.
Restaurant
Côté Cuisine
Breakfast is served from an open pantry kitchen, where local charcuterie and pastries sit beside a long communal table.
At the table
The crimson bar mixes cocktails to a jazz soundtrack. In the dining room, dinner is served beneath gold tray ceilings.
How it began
Architect Prosper Perrin drafted plans for the grand hotel in 1888, though it only opened in 1912.
