What it’s good at
What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Also in Condé Nast Traveler.
The estate and its vineyards are surrounded by ten acres of woodland that lend the experience a feeling of seclusion, even though the location is actually quite a convenient one.
Tucked away
A place apart: the property is the destination.
Cardiff sits twenty minutes to the east, but the surrounding Vale of Glamorgan is all quiet farmland and country lanes.
The rooms
Timber-wing rooms look out across the vines, with open-plan seating, deep-soaking tubs, and warm, modernist interiors.
Roots Restaurant
Green leather booths look out across the vines, and the kitchen serves seasonal Welsh dishes with estate wines.
Former geologist Ryan Davies took over Llanerch Vineyard in 2010, and has since transformed the 10-acre space…into southern Wales’s most sought-after foodie haven, complete with a cooking school.
At the table
Outdoor terraces border the vine rows for open-air lunches, and the tasting bar pours flights of estate Cariad wine.
How it began

Vines were first planted here in 1986, producing an initial wedding vintage named Cariad, the Welsh word for love.
