Patagonian coastal lodge
The lodge sits on the Beagle Channel shore, where travelers return from subpolar excursions to open hearths and a heated glass-enclosed terrace.
What it’s good at
Notable
Plush shoreline comfort where picture windows frame Beagle Channel over king crab dinners.
What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
once you’re settled, though, it may as well be another planet. And future interstellar voyagers can only hope that other planets have lodges like this.
Tucked away
A place apart: the property is the destination.
On the shore of the Beagle Channel, framed by the Andes four miles west of downtown Ushuaia.
The rooms
Rooms stay simple with warm wood and clean lines. Windows look out across the water or toward the mountains.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
Exposed timber rafters arch over the heated pool, which flows from inside the lodge straight out toward the shore.
The hot tubs
An indoor hydrotherapy tub looks through floor-to-ceiling glass, and open-air whirlpools sit outside on the wooden deck.
The gym and solarium
Cushioned loungers line the glass solarium facing snow-dusted peaks, and the fitness center looks out across the water.
Restaurant
Reinamora
Chairs lined with sheepskins face the channel, and the kitchen serves southern king crab with produce from its own greenhouse.
At the table
Plates of Patagonian cured meats accompany Argentine wines in the lounge, and breakfast tables look out across the morning channel.
How it began

Founder Cristian Zaefferer named the lodge after the cauquén, a native goose that nests along the bay.
