What they say
Michelin Selected

Also in Condé Nast Traveler.
The setting is the 1900-vintage Mathers Hotel building, but inside it’s clear you’re in the 21st century, thanks to Malmaison’s signature sense of theatrical glamour.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Dundee railway station is steps away, and the V&A design museum sits just across the waterfront.
The rooms
Rooms sit beneath high Victorian ceilings, and suites add roll-top bathtubs and sleigh beds.
Restaurant
Chez Mal Brasserie
Grass-fed British steaks come off the Josper grill, served across dining rooms lined with tufted leather booths.
Chez Mal Bar
Emerald velvet booths and turquoise barstools surround the checkered floor. The counter serves morning coffee and evening craft cocktails.
At the table
Hanging heaters warm terra-cotta tables on the sheltered outdoor terrace, partitioned with bamboo planters for open-air meals.
How it began

Robert Hunter designed the building in 1899 as the Tay Hotel. It stood derelict for years before its 2014 revival.
