Timber golf lodge
Timber golf lodge
The timber lodge sits on low stilts above the moss, placing golfers directly into the quiet forest between rounds.
What it’s good at
Notable
Spruce timber strips and a double-height lounge with a concrete heat-storing fireplace.
Tucked away
A place apart: the property is the destination.
The Öijared peninsula lies between Lake Mjörn and Lake Sävelången, surrounded by walking trails and sixty-three golf holes.
The rooms
Wood doors are fitted with leather pulls, and sliding partitions allow selected rooms to divide into two bedrooms.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
Mosaic tiles line the indoor pool, where floor-to-ceiling glass looks straight out into the surrounding woods.
The baths
A heated outdoor spring steams beside the fairways, and bath rituals use organic skincare products by Maria Åkerberg.
At the table
Öijared Restaurang serves seasonal Nordic dishes and daily buffets beside large windows facing the surrounding trees.
How it began

The hotel opened in 2014 beside Gert Wingårdh's turf-roofed clubhouse, an underground landmark that won Sweden's top architecture prize in 1988.
