Spanish Colonial valley estate
White stucco arches, fountain courtyards, and shaded oak groves run together, functioning as a sunlit, self-contained village.
“Today it resembles a village – both in size and amenities – attracting families and corporate groups alike.”

the Ojai Valley Inn isn’t some rustic little bed and breakfast, but a secluded and spectacular resort, a 1920s Spanish Colonial revival-style compound
“Time seems to slow down as you pull up to this sprawling Spanish revival hotel. Birds chirp from atop the towering oak trees, and the peacefully running fountains set the tone for a serenity that'll carry through your weekend.”
Tucked away
A place apart: the property is the destination.
Downtown Ojai's tasting rooms and craft shops are a short bike ride away, beneath the trails of Los Padres National Forest.
The rooms
Rooms open onto private patios, with Mexican terracotta tiles underfoot and hand-painted Spanish ceramic around deep soaking tubs.
The water
Bring a swimsuit.
The spa and pools
Indoor mosaic whirlpools sit beside eucalyptus steam rooms in the spa village, and blue umbrellas shade the outdoor pools.
Dogs stay too.
At the table
Olivella serves Italian-influenced dishes beside a glowing fireplace, and The Oak looks out on centuries-old trees from its pergola terrace.
With an array of trees (Italian olive and citrus), fragrant herbs and roses… Ojai Valley Inn’s grounds are stunning.
How it began

Glass magnate Edward Libbey founded the estate in the 1920s, and director Frank Capra soon cast the valley as Shangri-La.
“Spread across 220 acres of coastal valley, the Ojai Valley Inn opened in 1923, originally commissioned by an early 20th-century glass tycoon.”
