Pointe de Flacq
Vibe
Coconut palms and white sands wrap around a secluded peninsula, where days unfold quietly between sheltered lagoon waters and open ocean.
“Private peninsula cove”
Dedicated butler service, beachfront cabana attendants spritzing rose water, and personalized valet assistance across the peninsula suites.
Garden-facing Guerlain Spa treatment suites, outdoor hydrotherapy baths, steam hammams, and movement studios at Club One pavilion.
A 60-acre private peninsula campus featuring water skiing, padel courts, a boathouse, and three distinct swimming pools.
On a private peninsula at Pointe de Flacq, framed by sheltered lagoon waters and open ocean beaches.
“This is the sort of place where butlers and valets scramble to meet your arrival, and even an afternoon at the beach…”
Rooms
Sliding hand-painted screens divide bedrooms from marble bathrooms with freestanding tubs, while private furnished terraces face the lagoon or ocean.
“The first resort hotel in the exclusive One&Only collection, this 142-room grande dame unveiled a $55 million transformation in December 2017.”
Wellness
The Guerlain Spa pairs garden-facing treatment rooms with an outdoor hydrotherapy pool, complemented by padel and tennis courts at Club One.
“This immaculately maintained, gravity-defying island classic is now more than 40 years old—yet it remains the very model of a smart, slick beach hotel.”
Backstory
Opened in 1975 by Sol Kerzner, the resort takes its name from the historic shipwreck that inspired the French novel Paul et Virginie.
Eat & drink
Thatched-roof Tapasake serves sushi on stilts over the lagoon, while Prime grills Wagyu beef beside an open-air water courtyard.
The neighborhood
Occupying a private peninsula on the northeast coast, the grounds border calm mangrove shallows with quiet fishing villages just down the shore.
The app
This is one hotel. The app has every one we rate, in your pocket, for the whole trip.
Our shorthand
What makes a hotel special, how well they pull it off, and what it feels like outside the door.
How well they pull it off
Extremely rare. Sets the global standard.
Brilliant execution. And we’re picky.
They did this well. You’ll notice.
A defining trait. Makes the hotel what it is.
The eight vibes
Architecture and interiors lead. There’s a creative vision at work.
The guest is conspicuously well cared for. Requests met before they’re made.
Rooted in place. Local character runs through the whole stay.
Energy and scene. Where the city goes out, whether or not it’s sleeping here.
A building with history. The story of the place is part of the stay.
Built around feeling better. Rest, sweat, soak, spa.
A hotel the city grew up with. Same rituals, same regulars.
A world of its own. No reason to leave the property.
Scene — what’s outside the door
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
A place apart: the property is the destination.
