From the sky, Punta Caracol Acqua-Lodge looks like a charm bracelet, a delicate chain of tiny house-shaped jewels floating on the clear blue Caribbean Sea.
Tucked away
A place apart: the property is the destination.
Mangrove channels and coral reefs ring Isla Colón, where boat rides connect the lodge to virgin beaches and Bocas Town.
The rooms
Two-story wooden cabins have thatched palm roofs and private sun decks, with personal ladders leading straight into the coral water.
At the table
The central thatched pavilion serves fresh Caribbean seafood over the water. Tropical cocktails are mixed at the wooden bar.
Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge, just off Isla Colón, has nine elegant thatched cottages. Hike and take boat tours to nearby beaches, or just bask on your private deck.
How it began

Founder José Luis arrived from Europe in 2000, turning his university thesis into a hand-built, solar-powered overwater lodge.
“Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge in Panama offers stunning overwater bungalows set against the backdrop of Bocas del Toro’s turquoise waters.”
