What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Also in Condé Nast Traveler, Wallpaper* and AFAR.
This stylish new boutique hotel was born out of Quirk Gallery, a mainstay in the city’s downtown arts district.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Broad Street's contemporary galleries and coffee shops line the Arts District, with downtown restaurants just a short stroll away.
The rooms
Bed frames are built from salvaged pine joists, set against pale pink walls and deep bay windows.
Restaurant
The Lobby Bar
Pink velvet barstools line the counter, where bartenders shake cocktails and the kitchen serves Virginia-sourced dishes.
The property’s slick appearance comes courtesy of local architects 3north, with interiors created by Connecticut-based firm Poesis.
At the table
Quirk Café pulls locally roasted Blanchard’s espresso by morning, and Q Rooftop pours craft cocktails over the city skyline.
How it began

Owners Katie and Ted Ukrop revived the 1916 J.B. Mosby & Co. department store, preserving its original iron staircase and maple floors.
“transforming a 100-year-old department store into a 75-room hotel with a rip-roaring rooftop bar scene, arguably the finest in the city.”
