Restored wine cooperative
Restored wine cooperative
The shuttered 1925 cooperative was reimagined as an eco-hotel, where guests stay alongside active cellars and a plant-filtered pool.
What it’s good at
Notable
A 1925 village wine cooperative rescued from abandonment, retaining original steel gangways.
What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
a winery co-op turned hotel, something of a modern eco-lodge right in the shadow of the village’s medieval castle.
Somewhere quiet
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
Bélesta's medieval castle overlooks the grounds, and the rocky vineyards of the Fenouillèdes valley surround the village.
The rooms
Bedrooms sit directly inside repurposed concrete wine vats, styled with modernist furniture and articulated lamps.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
Aquatic reeds and gravel beds filter the biological pool, bordered by a timber sun deck along the hillside.
The sauna
The wood-paneled sauna sits inside subterranean concrete vats, opening onto wicker armchairs and a smooth pebble floor.
Restaurant
La Coopérative
Tables sit beneath an indoor tree and Eiffel ironwork in the former press hall, or outside under a bamboo pergola.
At the table
Terrace armchairs overlook the village rooftops, where guests gather for pastries or glasses of estate-grown organic wine.
How it began

Architects Luc Richard and Karin Pühringer rescued the village's abandoned 1925 cooperative in 2006, opening the hotel four years later.
