Michelin Selected
Michelin
The estate surrounding Rittergut Positz can be dated, impressively, back to 1074, making the hotel’s 17th century manor house relatively new in comparison.
Tucked away
A place apart: the property is the destination.
Quiet estate forest and open fields surround the grounds, with Oppurg Castle just three kilometres to the west.
The rooms
Rooms set in the converted barns retain heavy timber rafters and antique furnishings, looking out across the surrounding fields.
The water
Bring a swimsuit.
The pool
A natural outdoor pool and Kneipp walking path sit in the private garden of the Freyraum Suite.
At the table
Wirtshaus 1755 sits in the manor's vaulted sixteenth-century wing, with tables set beneath wrought-iron chandeliers and out across the cobblestone courtyard.
How it began

Left derelict after 1979 and used for firefighting drills, the ruined estate was rescued by Stefan and Kristin Schwarzer in 1997.
