What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Also in Condé Nast Traveler.
Built in 1864 as a schoolhouse, Seaton House retains the bay windows and high ceilings that give its rooms their grand feel.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
The front doors open onto The Scores. West Sands beach stretches out below, and the Old Course first tee sits right next door.
The rooms
Tall bay windows look toward the water or garden. Rooms come with cashmere blankets and hooded robes for brisk sea swims.
The gym
Matrix cardio machines and free weights look out onto the stone courtyard for resident workouts.
Bow Butts Bar
Bay windows look over the historic archery grounds, and the bar pours rare single malts from a twenty-page Scotch list.
Restaurant
Ondine Oyster & Grill
Chef Roy Brett serves fresh oysters and grilled Scottish seafood in a wood-panelled dining room overlooking the water.
At the table
The Board Room serves cured meats and I.J. Mellis cheeses at marble tables beside a tiled bar counter.
How it began

A recent restoration revived the building's original 1864 name, weaving the family tartans of its craftsmen into bedroom throws.
