The house
IHGEarth-sheltered desert compound
The compound channels ancient Nabataean settlements, keeping days quiet and grounded on an open ridge miles from town.
“Nothing in this otherworldly, arid landscape was removed from the site where the 60 LEED-certified guest rooms now stand.”
What it’s good at
Remarkable
Limestone pavilions partially buried into Negev cliffs, roofed in thatch and local flint.
Notable
Resident camel stables and open-air amphitheater cinema screenings beneath desert skies.
What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Also in Condé Nast Traveler, The 50 Discovery, Wallpaper* and AFAR.
Seemingly sewn into a stark ridge, the small boutique resort is a seamless blend of artful pampering and site-specific architecture.
Tucked away
A place apart: the property is the destination.
Jordan's red Edom Mountains rise across the Arava Valley, and the tiny artisan village of Shaharut dots a neighboring ridge.
The rooms
Pale tadelakt plaster keeps interiors cool, and sliding glass doors open onto private stone terraces facing the valley.
The pools
Bring a swimsuit.
A 25-meter outdoor infinity pool looks out across the canyon, and an 18-meter heated pool sits beneath vaulted stone ceilings.
The spa
Six barrel-vaulted suites host Tibetan singing bowl sessions and rituals using local camel milk, dates, and Balm of Gilead oils.
The studio
A view-facing studio hosts yoga, breathwork, and sound meditation sessions looking across the desert ridges.
At the table
Midian serves tabun-baked breads and garden produce, with tables beside a fireplace and out on the valley-facing terrace.
Built of honey-hued stone, the acclaimed spa group’s Israeli offering blends effortlessly into the Negev Desert’s sweeping sand dunes.
How it began

Founder Ronny Douek spent a decade developing the empty ridge, using stone excavated on site and concrete cast by a nearby kibbutz.
“The design, by Tel Aviv-based Plesner Architects – a modern interpretation of a Nomadic Nabatean building – is at one with the desert.”
