Low-slung pavilions by Esteva i Esteva Arquitectura feature bamboo ceilings, ash-veneered screens, and Siraj Saxena artworks.
Personalized wellness consultations, organic cotton kurta attire, bespoke dining plans, and daily private treatments included with every stay.
In a native sal forest at the Himalayan foothills, the estate grounds set apart from town.
“wellness is the primary focus. This retreat, in the outskirts of Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, sits at the foot of the Himalayas”
Rooms
Minimalist rooms feature organic bedding, neutral stone finishes, and floor-to-ceiling glass opening onto balconies angled toward the canopy of sacred sal trees.
“Conceived by Esteva i Esteva Arquitectura, the 21-acre estate comprises low-slung, symmetrical pavilions seamlessly integrated into a sal woodland.”
Wellness
Practitioners deliver Sowa Rigpa Tibetan therapies and Ayurvedic panchakarma, complemented by a dedicated indoor Watsu pool, thermal suites, and targeted biohacking.
“The whitewashed resort is a stunning minimalist reinterpretation of a maharaja’s palace.”
Backstory
Founder Veer Singh established the Himalayan retreat in 2014 as an ecological haven, securing Tibetan medical practitioners directly from the Men-Tsee-Khang institute.
“The 82-room resort features bamboo-clad ceilings, handcrafted art installations, and massive windows overlooking a forest of sal trees, considered sacred in Hindu tradition.”
Eat & drink
Salana serves seasonal local grains on open terraces, while Anayu tailors every course to individual Ayurvedic doshas alongside custom botanicals at the juice bar.
The neighborhood
Set within 21 forested acres at the base of the Himalayas, the grounds remain secluded while placing the holy riverbanks of Rishikesh ninety minutes away.
The app
This is one hotel. The app has every one we rate, in your pocket, for the whole trip.
Our shorthand
What makes a hotel special, how well they pull it off, and what it feels like outside the door.
How well they pull it off
Extremely rare. Sets the global standard.
Brilliant execution. And we’re picky.
They did this well. You’ll notice.
A defining trait. Makes the hotel what it is.
The eight vibes
Architecture and interiors lead. There’s a creative vision at work.
The guest is conspicuously well cared for. Requests met before they’re made.
Rooted in place. Local character runs through the whole stay.
Energy and scene. Where the city goes out, whether or not it’s sleeping here.
A building with history. The story of the place is part of the stay.
Built around feeling better. Rest, sweat, soak, spa.
A hotel the city grew up with. Same rituals, same regulars.
A world of its own. No reason to leave the property.
Scene — what’s outside the door
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
A place apart: the property is the destination.
