The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort
Doha, Qatar
Vibe
Sunlit marble courtyards, quiet colonnades, and breeze-filled lounges look out past the palatial facade toward a private Arabian Sea shoreline.
“Waterfront Mughal citadel”
Sea-facing suites and private pool villas receive attentive care, dedicated house cars, and bespoke turndown comforts.
Mughal-inspired chhatri domes, scalloped arches, and 32-foot lobby ceilings replicate historic Ottoman courtyard palaces.
A 60-meter infinity pool, private Katara beachfront with watersports, and overwater dining cabanas along the jetty.
Inside Katara Cultural Village along Shakespeare Street, fronting the private beach with West Bay in view.
“This stunning white Mughal-inspired palace overlooking the Arabian Sea might look like a mirage, but The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort is indeed real…”
Rooms
Rooms and suites look out over the water, while standalone villas add private swimming pools and enclosed gardens.
“The property’s impressive and serene lobby is a homage to both the Mughal and Ottoman empires — with art-lined walls stretching to the soaring 32-feet-high ceilings…”
Wellness
A 60-meter infinity pool reaches toward the gulf, alongside traditional Turkish hammams, plunge pools, and gym views over Katara Hills.
Backstory
WATG and Wimberly Interiors fused Mughal palace architecture with Ottoman courtyard design when building the hotel in 2022.
Eat & drink
Overwater cabanas extend along the jetty at La Marsa, while The Beach Restaurant serves grilled seafood beside the family pool.
The neighborhood
Set inside Katara Cultural Village, the hotel sits steps from waterfront promenades, art galleries, and the trails of Katara Hills.
The app
This is one hotel. The app has every one we rate, in your pocket, for the whole trip.
Our shorthand
What makes a hotel special, how well they pull it off, and what it feels like outside the door.
How well they pull it off
Extremely rare. Sets the global standard.
Brilliant execution. And we’re picky.
They did this well. You’ll notice.
A defining trait. Makes the hotel what it is.
The eight vibes
Architecture and interiors lead. There’s a creative vision at work.
The guest is conspicuously well cared for. Requests met before they’re made.
Rooted in place. Local character runs through the whole stay.
Energy and scene. Where the city goes out, whether or not it’s sleeping here.
A building with history. The story of the place is part of the stay.
Built around feeling better. Rest, sweat, soak, spa.
A hotel the city grew up with. Same rituals, same regulars.
A world of its own. No reason to leave the property.
Scene — what’s outside the door
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
A place apart: the property is the destination.
