The Dolli at Acropolis
Athens, Greece
Monastiraki
Vibe
Ancient ceramics and modern sculptures fill the lobby beneath restored stucco ceilings, where quiet glamour counters the city rush outside.
“Neoclassical art roost”
Custom bouclé seating, curated modernist art, and a rooftop glasshouse designed by Stelios Kois.
Attentive concierge service, evening turndown, luxury French bath amenities, and à la carte breakfast overlooking the Parthenon.
A 1925 neoclassical mansion, preserving restored ceiling sun stucco and its historic department-store facade.
On Mitropoleos Street between Plaka and Monastiraki, steps from the Acropolis and the cathedral square.
“It’s set in a neoclassical building from 1925, to which has been added a rooftop infinity pool and an upscale international restaurant…”
Rooms
High ceilings and grand picture windows frame creamy white spaces, finished with custom wooden bars and double walk-in marble showers.
“The gorgeous lobby makes an impression thanks to a curated collection of eclectic furnishings that range from Greek-inspired bronze statues to ultra-modern, low-slung armchairs.”
Wellness
The heated rooftop infinity pool reflects the Parthenon columns, while a fitness studio downstairs includes cross-training gear and a sauna.
“The interior designers have gone all-out for the wow factor in the lobby lounge: a striking interplay of voluptuous bouclé sofas…”
Backstory
Built in 1925 by parliament architect Andreas Kriezis as a private mansion, the neoclassical landmark later housed a famed textile emporium.
“Located in a 1925 neoclassical building in the heart of Athens, the light-filled hotel marries classic architectural detailing with original art and contemporary interior design.”
Eat & drink
Dine on Mediterranean plates beneath the Acropolis at the rooftop restaurant, or sip cocktails surrounded by art books in the library.
“Downtown Athens, meanwhile, is swimming in new hotels, including the Dolli, a listed neoclassical 1925 eclectic-era mansion...”
The neighborhood
Set on Mitropoleos Street, the mansion sits moments from Plaka's historic lanes, Roman ruins, and the bustling flea markets of Monastiraki.
The app
This is one hotel. The app has every one we rate, in your pocket, for the whole trip.
Our shorthand
What makes a hotel special, how well they pull it off, and what it feels like outside the door.
How well they pull it off
Extremely rare. Sets the global standard.
Brilliant execution. And we’re picky.
They did this well. You’ll notice.
A defining trait. Makes the hotel what it is.
The eight vibes
Architecture and interiors lead. There’s a creative vision at work.
The guest is conspicuously well cared for. Requests met before they’re made.
Rooted in place. Local character runs through the whole stay.
Energy and scene. Where the city goes out, whether or not it’s sleeping here.
A building with history. The story of the place is part of the stay.
Built around feeling better. Rest, sweat, soak, spa.
A hotel the city grew up with. Same rituals, same regulars.
A world of its own. No reason to leave the property.
Scene — what’s outside the door
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
A place apart: the property is the destination.
