The hotel links eleven Georgian townhouses into an open-door residence where locals drop in from morning espresso to midnight drinks.
“Interiors by AIME Studios … are versatile enough to accommodate all seasons: in colder months, heavy jacquards, velvet headboards and ornate cornicing create a cocooning warmth.”
What it’s good at
Notable
Vintage glass chandeliers and a brass-wrapped bar balance restored Georgian sash windows.
Notable
Eleven interconnected Category B listed Georgian townhouses preserve nineteenth-century decorative plasterwork and cornicing.

The Hoxton's Edinburgh debut joins eleven Georgian townhouses along Grosvenor Street in Haymarket into a single hotel, its lobby paired with a Verity Woolley mural and a vintage Murano glass chandelier.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Haymarket station sits just down the street, and a quiet path along the Water of Leith leads into Dean Village.
The rooms
Bedrooms keep their original sash windows and decorative cornicing, given a sharp lift by deep raspberry headboards.
Restaurant
Patatino
A stone fountain stands inside the pink dining room, where an open kitchen makes Amalfi-style pasta with Scottish produce.
Inside, the hotel demonstrates a handsome layering of eras and influences that reflects Edinburgh’s famous tapestried streets with a unique pairing of a contemporary Verity Woolley mural and vintage amber Murano chandelier.
At the table
Checkered floors and tiled columns flank long marble tables, where guests order daytime coffee or late-night Scottish whisky.
How it began

Architect Robert Matheson designed the Victorian terrace in 1865, which spent decades as the Grosvenor Hotel before its contemporary rebirth.
