it’s almost an urban resort, complete with an outdoor swimming pool, a spa, and a wealth of dining and drinking options.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Located along Janpath in central Delhi, the estate sits moments from the colonnaded shopping circles, craft emporiums, and gardens of Connaught Place.
The rooms
Generously proportioned rooms blend Art Deco geometry with heritage rosewood furniture, Italian marble baths, and ozone-sanitized Porthault linens.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
Green mosaic tile motifs line the outdoor pool, which sits among manicured gardens and carved stone fountains.
The spa
White marble pillars and domed ceilings shelter a subterranean spa offering Ayurvedic therapies guided by Kerala therapists.
The gym
Mirrored walls frame the fitness studio, and the nearby Yoga Sanctum offers dedicated spaces for movement.
1911 Restaurant
Dining tables rest along the checkered marble terrace and beneath white filigree pergolas overlooking the gardens.
The magic remains to this day, in part due to the interiors – Italian marble floors, polished Rosewood furniture, Persian hand-knotted carpets and 5,500 artworks – but also the immaculate service.
At the table
The Spice Route showcases hand-carved pillars and murals, and Patiala Peg serves classic drinks surrounded by historic memorabilia.
How it began

Inaugurated in 1936 by Lord Willingdon, the estate was commissioned by S.B.S. Ranjit Singh to blend Victorian architecture with Art Deco details.
