Craft-driven mountain hideaway
Upstairs from Main Street, guests share a communal library with a wood stove, turntable, and balcony views of the Wallowas.
“a lovingly restored hotel named The Jennings, which originates from 1910, offers design-savvy travellers a suitable base to enjoy the region’s untouched splendour.”
What it’s good at
Remarkable
Twelve individually commissioned guest rooms showcase custom timber platform beds, woven cane headboards, and bespoke regional furniture.
Notable
A 1910 red-brick building, originally built as an opera house and boarding lodgings, anchors downtown Main Street.
Notable
Artist residencies, local craft collaborations, and prints of Wallowa Lake root the stay in the surrounding mountain community.
What they say
Also in Condé Nast Traveler and Wallpaper*.
Each of its 12 spare but chic rooms was styled by a different local designer, with a unifying emphasis on high-end craftsmanship.
Somewhere quiet
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
Set along Joseph's quiet Main Street, the hotel sits minutes from glacial Wallowa Lake and the surrounding wilderness trails.
The rooms
Each individually styled room features distinct creative layouts, hand-laid white-oak floors, custom built-in millwork, and locally foraged vintage objects.
The sauna
A custom cedar Finnish sauna sits along the second-floor hallway, complete with wooden benches and an adjoining shower.
How it began

Built in 1910 as an opera house, the brick building was revived through a community Kickstarter campaign led by artist Greg Hennes.
