The Liberty is imposing and monumental because, in a previous life, it was a jail — the 1851-vintage Charles Street Jail.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Beacon Hill's Charles Street boutiques sit right outside, and the Charles River Esplanade is just across the street.
The rooms
Rooms have studded leather headboards and nightstands styled like iron safes, and tall windows look out over the Charles River.
The gym
The 24-hour fitness room has cardio machines and free weights, and loaner bicycles are available for riding along the river.
