The Lodhi
New Delhi, India
Vibe
Across seven peaceful acres, sandstone colonnades, tranquil reflecting pools, and rotating contemporary Indian art create a calm sanctuary in the capital.
“Modern sandstone sanctum”
Modernist sandstone colonnades, geometric jaali screens, and rotating contemporary Indian artwork define the minimalist seven-acre grounds.
Eight private spa suites accompany gender-segregated Turkish hammams, a fifty-meter lap pool, and squash and tennis courts.
Expansive suites feature oversized daybeds, personal plunge pools clad in green Khareda stone, and dedicated airport transfers.
On Lodhi Road beside Delhi Golf Club, minutes from Humayun's Tomb and Lodhi Gardens.
“The impression is softened once you’re inside the lush rooms. Suites on higher floors include private balconies with plunge pools...”
Rooms
Most suites open onto private balconies fitted with oversized daybeds and open-air plunge pools clad in green Khareda stone.
“surrounded by seven acres of landscaped gardens and abutting the Delhi golf club, this self-styled Indian palace fortress is just a ten-minute walk northwest of the buzzing Nizamuddin neighborhood”
Wellness
Facilities span a 50-meter lap pool, squash courts, a Pilates reformer studio, and dedicated hammams with multi-temperature plunge pools.
“Each room has a balcony and private plunge pool, good for cooling off after a jog to the nearby Lodhi Gardens…”
Backstory
Designed by architect Kerry Hill, the property debuted in 2009 as Aman New Delhi before transitioning into an independent luxury retreat.
Eat & drink
Dining centres on inventive fine dining at Indian Accent, Italian fare at Perbacco, and all-day courtyard meals at Élan.
The neighborhood
Set beside the Delhi Golf Club, the estate sits minutes from the lush grounds of Lodhi Gardens and historic Humayun's Tomb.
The app
This is one hotel. The app has every one we rate, in your pocket, for the whole trip.
Our shorthand
What makes a hotel special, how well they pull it off, and what it feels like outside the door.
How well they pull it off
Extremely rare. Sets the global standard.
Brilliant execution. And we’re picky.
They did this well. You’ll notice.
A defining trait. Makes the hotel what it is.
The eight vibes
Architecture and interiors lead. There’s a creative vision at work.
The guest is conspicuously well cared for. Requests met before they’re made.
Rooted in place. Local character runs through the whole stay.
Energy and scene. Where the city goes out, whether or not it’s sleeping here.
A building with history. The story of the place is part of the stay.
Built around feeling better. Rest, sweat, soak, spa.
A hotel the city grew up with. Same rituals, same regulars.
A world of its own. No reason to leave the property.
Scene — what’s outside the door
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
A place apart: the property is the destination.
