The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery
New Orleans, Louisiana
Vibe
The lobby doubles as a gallery, where rotating local art shares space with locally crafted goods displayed in chandlery cases.
“Coffee warehouse atelier”
Industrial warehouse interiors pair original hardwood floors and exposed piping with student artwork.
An 1854 coffee warehouse preserves exposed brick and aged wood from its portside past.
Where Y'Art Works gallery exhibitions connect the stay to New Orleans artists and student talent.
In the Warehouse Arts District, a short walk from Canal Street and the French Quarter.
“this former coffee warehouse provides a lively backdrop, full of rich textures in exposed brick and aged wood.”
Rooms
Artwork by students from the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts gives guestrooms a local connection, while a pillow menu personalizes sleep.
Wellness
The ground-floor fitness room stays open 24 hours, and on-request Well+Fit kits bring a yoga mat, hand weights and workout bands to your guestroom.
“The hotel lobby is part art gallery, with a rotating collection curated by the New Orleans Center of Creative Arts, part commissary, with locally crafted products displayed in chandlery cases.”
Backstory
The name recalls 77 Tchoupitoulas Street, the building's address before renumbering, when its chandlery traded rope, canvas, tobacco and patent medicines.
Eat & drink
Compère Lapin serves curried goat with sweet potato gnocchi and cocktails, while the lobby's Tout La counter supplies coffee and house-made pastries.
The neighborhood
The Warehouse Arts District puts galleries around you, with Canal Street and the French Quarter a short walk away.

Our shorthand
What makes a hotel special, how well they pull it off, and what it feels like outside the door.
How well they pull it off
Extremely rare. Sets the global standard.
Brilliant execution. And we’re picky.
They did this well. You’ll notice.
A defining trait. Makes the hotel what it is.
The eight vibes
Architecture and interiors lead. There’s a creative vision at work.
The guest is conspicuously well cared for. Requests met before they’re made.
Rooted in place. Local character runs through the whole stay.
Energy and scene. Where the city goes out, whether or not it’s sleeping here.
A building with history. The story of the place is part of the stay.
Built around feeling better. Rest, sweat, soak, spa.
A hotel the city grew up with. Same rituals, same regulars.
A world of its own. No reason to leave the property.
Scene — what’s outside the door
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
A place apart: the property is the destination.
