What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Its eight spectacular pavilions are named after Australian artists or architects whose works are in the accompanying Museum of Old and New Art collection, and they’re stuffed to the gills with high-end residential comforts, including kitchens and laundry.
Tucked away
A place apart: the property is the destination.
Vineyards and the River Derwent wrap the peninsula. High-speed catamarans connect the private pier directly to Hobart's waterfront.
The rooms
Each pavilion houses original Australian art and antiquities from the museum collection. Four cantilever directly over the River Derwent.
The indoor pool
Bring a swimsuit.
The heated indoor lap pool stretches beside angled glass walls, facing the River Derwent through casuarina trees.
The spa baths
Outdoor spa baths are set into the timber decks, surrounded by eucalyptus branches above the river.
The gym and sauna
A mirror-lined fitness room and dry heat sauna sit inside the guest amenity pavilion, looking onto native bushland.
At the table
The Source serves seasonal Tasmanian dishes overlooking the river, and Faro hosts dinners beside museum light art installations.
How it began

David Walsh bought the Moorilla winery in 1995, eventually excavating the sandstone peninsula to build his underground museum.
