Restored Cotswold farmstead
Restored stone barns, kitchen gardens, and wildflower meadows form a peaceful hamlet retreat where sheep graze just beyond the pathways.
What it’s good at
What they say
Two Michelin Keys
Michelin
Also in Condé Nast Traveler.
The rooms vary widely in size, layout, and design, but all are perfectly stylish and full of comforts; many include rolltop baths...
Somewhere quiet
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
Quiet footpaths wind past Southrop stone cottages and along the River Leach, with scenic Cotswold market villages within a short drive.
The rooms
Botanical prints and Tetbury antiques dress the bedrooms, where freestanding rolltop tubs and welcome trugs of homemade cordial await.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
Spring water fills the outdoor heated pool, which sits enclosed by Cotswold stone walls and mature cedar trees.
The spa
Cottage treatment rooms use estate botanical oils, and a sunlit glasshouse lounge looks onto the gardens.
The thermal suite
Built-in warming benches and a stone water basin anchor the minimalist thermal room beside the gardens.
Restaurant
The Ox Barn
Vaulted Douglas fir rafters shelter the dining room, where seasonal British dishes draw from the estate farm.
The decor in the rooms is like an English rose garden, bottled and distilled—there’s floral (but not frilly) wallpaper in some, farmhouse-style furniture with smooth edges, claw-footed tubs.
At the table
Botanical cocktails and British spirits are poured in the former lambing sheds, set with whimsical fleece-topped stools.
How it began

Founder Caryn Hibbert began rehabilitating Southrop Manor's historic farmstead two decades ago, opening a cookery school before expanding into an estate hotel.
