The hotel runs like a private French country residence, trading Scandinavian restraint for unhurried salon living behind a quiet street gate.

Notable
French antiques and vintage cinema posters decorate the nineteenth-century townhouse rooms.
What they say
Michelin Selected

Also in AFAR.
Trading off Scandinavian practicality for French countryside charm is Villa Provence, a boutique hotel built around a cobblestoned courtyard in one of Aarhus’s most desirable neighborhoods.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
The front gate opens onto Fredens Torv, and the canal restaurants and cobbled Latin Quarter are a short walk away.
The rooms
Rooms have hardwood floors and vintage French film posters. Several add four-poster beds or clawfoot tubs tucked beneath sloping walls.
At the table
An organic breakfast is served at mosaic-tiled tables downstairs, and evenings bring wine outside by candlelight.
More than a thousand miles separate Arhaus from France’s Provence region, but this lovely hotel has 39 homey rooms with wide plank floors, brass or dark wooden four-poster beds, Provençal bedcovers, and framed French film posters.
How it began

The 1853 merchant building became a hotel in 2003, filled with antiques its founders personally hauled back from France.
