Hotel MiL8
Modernist alpine chalet
Modernist alpine chalet
The ski-in chalet playfully revives Avoriaz's 1960s futurism, centered on an open-hearth lounge right beside the pistes.
What it’s good at
Notable
Cedar shingles cover angular facades, with birch paneling and colorful climbing wall grips.
What they say
Michelin Selected
Michelin
Also in Condé Nast Traveler.
the interior aesthetic pays homage to the resort’s early days — the village, where the streets double as pistes, was dreamt up by Jean Vuarnet
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Horse-drawn sleighs replace cars in the snow-covered resort, and the pistes outside connect across the Portes du Soleil.
The rooms
Porthole windows look out at the peaks. Birch-paneled walls are accented with warm wools and green and mustard tones.
The pool
Bring a swimsuit.
The heated pool extends into the alpine air, equipped with a counter-current swimming jet facing the surrounding peaks.
The sauna and spa
The glass-walled sauna looks out over the resort chalets, and treatments draw on organic alpine skincare from Snö Éternelle.
Restaurant
La Table du MiL8
Tables face straight onto the pistes, serving mountain lunches on the terrace and Savoyard bistro cooking by night.
The birch-clad Mil8 playfully updates the town's oddball style. Designers Catherine and Jérôme Clermont had fun with colors and shapes, from the lobby lighting to the rock-climbing grips dotted around.
At the table
The bar shakes signature cocktails along a brass counter, serving afternoon pastries and local cheese boards beside the slopes.
How it began

The name nods to Avoriaz's 1,800-meter altitude. Local architect Hervé Marullaz designed the angular facades to echo the resort's original sixties aesthetic.
