this Bauhaus structure is both historically significant and aesthetically distinctive. Not that Soho House has treated it with undue reverence; its renovation feels intentionally unfinished, with industrial rough edges
“Housed in a Grade II listed Bauhaus building in the Mitte district, the property doubles as a hub for the city’s creative souls, drawn to its laptop-friendly communal spaces, skyline rooftop pool and cinema screening room.”
“Today, it’s one of Mitte’s foremost havens of hip, offering quirkily decorated rooms that mix vintage with contemporary design tropes—think Marshall speakers and old-school record players, floral armchairs, and art deco bathtubs.”
In a lively part of town
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Torstraße's cocktail bars and boutiques run right past the door. Alexanderplatz sits a ten-minute walk to the south.
The rooms
Exposed concrete walls rise above dark timber floors, and larger bedrooms have freestanding roll-top tubs and vintage turntables.
The rooftop pool
Bring a swimsuit.
The heated rooftop pool is tiled in green Pyrolave stone and looks past fringed parasols toward the Fernsehturm.
The spa
Curtained relaxation alcoves line the Cowshed Spa, where a large traditional hammam sits around a central water fountain.
At the table
Cecconi's serves handmade pasta from an open kitchen. Downstairs, the Red Room pours cocktails beneath a pressed-tin ceiling.
The lobby is a studied blend of history and hipster cool, with exposed concrete walls and pillars, a wrought-iron spiral staircase, low-slung modern sofas, and a large-scale Damien Hirst hanging on one wall.
How it began

The 1928 building began as an innovative credit department store, later requisitioned as wartime headquarters and East German communist archives.
“Launched in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory - the British music and arts enterprise - the apartments offer either two or three bedrooms, along with expansive open-plan living and dining areas.”
