The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur
Jaipur, India
Prem Nagar
Vibe
Peacocks wander past reflection pools and torch-lit stone paths across a 32-acre walled sanctuary designed like a royal Rajasthani fortress.
“Fortress garden refuge”
Fortress-inspired pink lime-plaster architecture featuring gold-leaf frescoes, hand-carved stone arches, and hand-embroidered luxury canopies.
Anticipatory butler service across secluded garden grounds, a five-to-one staff ratio, and sunken marble soaking tubs.
A thirty-two-acre walled estate with roaming peacocks, torch-lit reflection pools, tennis courts, and Mughal-style tented pavilions.
Across 32 acres of landscaped gardens on Jaipur's outskirts, ten kilometers from the Pink City's palaces.
“The beauty is almost unreal—not the ravaged beauty of history, but the unspoiled beauty of dreams.”
Rooms
Cluster rooms feature sunken marble bathtubs facing walled courtyards, while air-conditioned tents showcase polished teak floors and hand-embroidered canopies.
“32 fabulously private acres of gardens, fountains, peacocks, and fort-inspired architecture that does a beautiful job of transporting its guests to pure serenity.”
Wellness
Ayurvedic treatments occupy a restored 300-year-old haveli, complemented by daily morning yoga sessions under banyan trees beside an ancient Shiva temple.
“my canvas-walled refuge at Oberoi Rajvilas has polished teak floors, cloth wall hangings, and an exquisite hand-embroidered canopy.”
Backstory
Opened in 1997 as the flagship Vilas resort, the estate drew architectural inspiration from nearby 19th-century Naila Fort.
Eat & drink
Raj Mahal serves regional Indian recipes in an open-air courtyard, while the Rajwada Library Bar pours single malts beside a fireplace.
The neighborhood
Set eight kilometers from Jaipur, the secluded grounds offer easy drives to the Pink City's bazaars and the Amber Fort.
The app
This is one hotel. The app has every one we rate, in your pocket, for the whole trip.
Our shorthand
What makes a hotel special, how well they pull it off, and what it feels like outside the door.
How well they pull it off
Extremely rare. Sets the global standard.
Brilliant execution. And we’re picky.
They did this well. You’ll notice.
A defining trait. Makes the hotel what it is.
The eight vibes
Architecture and interiors lead. There’s a creative vision at work.
The guest is conspicuously well cared for. Requests met before they’re made.
Rooted in place. Local character runs through the whole stay.
Energy and scene. Where the city goes out, whether or not it’s sleeping here.
A building with history. The story of the place is part of the stay.
Built around feeling better. Rest, sweat, soak, spa.
A hotel the city grew up with. Same rituals, same regulars.
A world of its own. No reason to leave the property.
Scene — what’s outside the door
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
A place apart: the property is the destination.
