Villa Palladio Jaipur
Jaipur, India
Sumel
Vibe
Crimson arches, fragrant rose parterres, and bubbling courtyard fountains transform a secluded haveli into an exuberant Italian-Mughal fantasy.
“Maximalist crimson bolthole”
Crimson and white interiors feature hand-painted floral murals, carved marble jaali screens, and candy-striped pool canopies.
Nine intimate rooms provide embroidered linens, custom block-printed robes, Kama Ayurveda bath products, and attentive estate hosts.
Jaipuri artisans crafted the inlaid marble, block-printed textiles, and hand-rolled pasta served beside authentic Rajasthani thalis.
In Sumel among walled gardens and the Aravali hills, twenty minutes east of central Jaipur.
“within its walls is a hyper-vivid Technicolor fantasy, in the public spaces and especially in the eight rooms and one suite.”
Rooms
Torre Belvedere rooms occupy octagonal corner towers with private terraces, while main villa chambers feature canopied beds and carved jaali screens.
“The hallmarks of their style—monochrome palettes, jewel-toned colors, a heavy focus on handcrafting and local and international aesthetics—sing through the space…”
Wellness
A palm-shaded swimming pool is flanked by an arched Mughal pavilion, an intimate botanical spa, and the Il Eremo yoga studio.
Backstory
Originally an eccentric 1980s haveli built for a Rajasthani nobleman, the secluded estate was revived as a red-swathed country refuge.
Eat & drink
Covered verandahs serve housemade pasta alongside homestyle Rajasthani thalis, while the poolside pavilion mixes Campari cocktails under scarlet canopies.
The neighborhood
Set in the village of Sumel beneath the Aravali hills, the estate sits twenty minutes east of Jaipur's bustling bazaars.
The app
This is one hotel. The app has every one we rate, in your pocket, for the whole trip.
Our shorthand
What makes a hotel special, how well they pull it off, and what it feels like outside the door.
How well they pull it off
Extremely rare. Sets the global standard.
Brilliant execution. And we’re picky.
They did this well. You’ll notice.
A defining trait. Makes the hotel what it is.
The eight vibes
Architecture and interiors lead. There’s a creative vision at work.
The guest is conspicuously well cared for. Requests met before they’re made.
Rooted in place. Local character runs through the whole stay.
Energy and scene. Where the city goes out, whether or not it’s sleeping here.
A building with history. The story of the place is part of the stay.
Built around feeling better. Rest, sweat, soak, spa.
A hotel the city grew up with. Same rituals, same regulars.
A world of its own. No reason to leave the property.
Scene — what’s outside the door
Where things happen: restaurants, shops, people.
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Away from the crowds. Getting around takes intention.
A place apart: the property is the destination.
