This boutique property’s studios and one- or two-bedroom apartments are designed for residential-style living, no matter how long you’re staying.
Right in the middle
Well-located: walkable to some things, a short ride to more.
Grand Circus Park and Campus Martius are both a short walk away along Washington Boulevard.
The rooms
Oak herringbone floors run through the apartments, which have full kitchens and in-unit laundry for extended stays.
The gym
Treadmills and rowing machines sit behind dark architectural arches, facing tall multi-pane windows that look over downtown Detroit.
Restaurant
HIROKI-SAN
The lower-level izakaya serves robatayaki and sushi beside a curved stone bar and slatted wood screens.
Roost guests stay inside one of Detroit's great restorations, now equipped with sprawling suites, a French bistro, an omakase counter, and a jewel-set dome overhead.
At the table
Le Suprême serves traditional brasserie fare along red leather banquettes, and wood-paneled lounges pour cocktails late into the evening.
How it began

The Book brothers commissioned the 38-story tower in the 1920s, hoping to turn Washington Boulevard into Detroit's Fifth Avenue.
“The apartment-hotel Roost has a similar backstory. Its mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units is spread across four floors of the 1926 Book Tower, which was renovated and reopened in 2023.”
